“Frenzied home building here has stalled, which should start to reduce the area’s large supply of vacant housing and propel prices upward,” the report says.
The average home price in Alpharetta is $359,950, the report says.
The five other cities cited in the report are Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit and Houston.
The report is based on information collected in the fourth quarter of 2007.CNNMoney.com considered the nation’s 30 largest metro areas and ranked them according to a formula that included housing price increases and the cost of renting a house.

John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods Ranked Highest in Customer Satisfaction in Atlanta and Charlotte by J.D. Power and Associates
ATLANTA, GA – Atlanta-based John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods was ranked highest in customer satisfaction among new home builders in Atlanta and tied for the highest customer satisfaction ranking in Charlotte in the 2007 New Home Builder Customer Satisfaction StudySM recently released by J.D.
Power and Associates. In addition, Wieland Financial Services was recognized for the highest customer satisfaction ranking among Builder Mortgage Originators in Atlanta.
“We’re excited to see these remarkable study results across two markets,” says Eric Price, President of John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods. “We’ve always maintained and will continue to maintain a strong focus on quality and our customer experience at every level of the company. We’re grateful for the confidence that our customers have placed in us, and it is our goal to repay that trust by delivering nothing but the very best for each of them.” The New Home Builder Customer Satisfaction StudySM, now in its 11th year, measures nine factors that drive overall customer satisfaction (listed in order of importance): builder warranty/customer service; construction manager; builder’s sales staff; home readiness; price/value; workmanship/materials; recreational facilities; builder’s design center and location. The study’s rankings are compiled from responses by new home buyers who have lived in their homes an average of four to eighteen months.
In addition, Wieland Financial Services topped the rankings in this year’s inaugural New Home Builder Mortgage Originator StudySM in the Atlanta market which measures the experience of new home owners who used a builder-owned mortgage company to originate a home loan. The study encompasses three factors that drive satisfaction with builder mortgage origination (listed in order of importance): loan officer/representative; closing and application/approval process. Like the New Home Builder Customer Satisfaction Study, it rankings are based on responses from new home buyers who have lived in their homes an average of four to eighteen months. “Obviously these are challenging times in the mortgage industry. But at WFS, we’re not in sales. We think of ourselves as a trusted advisor for each of our customers. It’s our goal to help them find financing that’s right for them,” says Keith Fadeley, President of Wieland Financial Services. “So it’s gratifying for us to see the payoff of our team’s efforts in results like these.”
